Shafiq Abdussabur, author, artist, speaker, and an advocate for community based policing as a sustainable solution to urban violence. Shafiq is a 15 year police veteran and the current president of the National Association of Black Law Enforcement Officers (NABLEO). He is the author of “A Black Man’s Guide to Law Enforcement in America” a straight talk manual to interactions between police and urban males. Going beyond the “driving while black” philosophy, his unique approach to community based policing & urban violence has been written about in the New York Times, Chicago Tribune, Hartford Courant New Haven Independent. As the creator of two American City Award Programs, his lecture circuit has included Yale University, State Colleges and Government venues.
